The Beechcraft Super King Air family is part of a line of twin-turboprop aircraft produced by Beechcraft. The most popular of this family - and even the entire business turboprop world - is the King Air 250. Introduced in 2010, this aircraft remains in solid demand with 162 deliveries since late 2010. Its success is simple: the manufacturer has continued to make substantive improvements since 1973. Textron created King Air 250 starting at s.n. BY-106, by adding BLR Aerospace winglets, BLR Hartzell carbon fiber props and Raisbeck?s engine inlet ram air recovery system to the B200GT. BLR and Textron also recertified runway performance with the trio of STCs, resulting in shorter takeoff and landing distances, plus better published OEI climb performance than B200GT. The Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-52 engines are flat rated at 850 shp up to ISA+37C, providing wide hot-and-high takeoff performance margins and strong climb performance to cruise altitude. The engines also deliver a maximum speed of 357mph ? making the King Air 250 relatively fast for a turboprop. As far as performance, The King Air 250 has a maximum range of 1,720nm ? far enough to fly between Houston and Seattle or London and Istanbul (*manufacturer quoted ferry range).
