The AgustaWestland AW139 is a medium twin-engine helicopter produced by AgustaWestland. It performed its maiden flight on February 3, 2001, entered production in 2003 and received FAA type certification in December 2004. By 2011, 90 AW139s had been produced each year, and 9.5% of AgustaWestland's overall revenue. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6C-67C engines, the AW139 offers exceptional speed, comfort, and overall performance. The FADEC system optimizes safety by adjusting the engines and effectively addressing engine failure with critical systems being easily accessible. Cabin noise and vibration levels have been reduced. Other optional features include auxiliary fuel tanks, rescue hoists, cargo hooks, search and weather radar, ice protection systems, and external cameras and searchlights. In the modular glass cockpit, single-pilot flight operations and four-axis autopilot decrease pilot workload.
